The Global Snow Leopard & Ecosystem Protection Program (GSLEP) wishes to announce the appointment of Sardar Muhammad Jamal Khan Leghari from Pakistan to the position of GSLEP Emissary. This momentous appointment testifies to our commitment to bringing the best snow leopard conservation practices to the global stage. The appointment of Sardar Leghari as Emissary will facilitate our capacity to address the critical issues associated with high-mountain regions by leveraging the conservation of the endangered snow leopard as a flagship species.

Sardar Muhammad Jamal Khan Leghari is a prominent personality from Pakistan, famous for his strong advocacy and protection of wildlife, particularly the snow leopard. With years of versatile experience in the political and policy-making field, his commitment to environmental conservation adds a very powerful voice toward safeguarding some of the most vulnerable ecosystems on our planet. Sardar Leghari has served at very high levels of government and in a variety of organizations that have made substantial contributions to conservation and environmental awareness. He has been to work in the majestic Himalayas, to the deserts of Baluchistan, telling with camera lenses the beauty and importance that Pakistan’s wildlife holds.

The background of Sardar Jamal Leghari is astonishing with him being the Honorary Ambassador for Wildlife of Pakistan, a member of the Pakistan National Long Range Rifle Team, an Ex-Senator, an Ex-Member of the Punjab Assembly, an Ex-Chairman of the Board of Directors MEPCO, Ex-Zila Nazim among many others. His leadership and commitment to wildlife conservation will surely boost the goals of GSLEP, especially in moving forward the aims of the commitments reflected in the Bishkek Declaration adopted during the 2013 Global Snow Leopard Conservation Forum.

We are sure that through the appointment of an Honorary Emissary for GSLEP, the cause of snow leopards and their ecosystem will be greatly advanced and protected not only in the region but globally.
